Dementia care courses
Recognised dementia qualifications for every role, from care assistant to registered manager — studied online with a tutor.
Why dementia care courses matter
Around 900,000 people in the UK live with dementia and most of them are supported, at some point, by a paid care worker. Dementia care is therefore the single most common specialism our learners ask for — not just for care assistants, but for senior carers who plan care, managers who register dementia services with CQC, and community staff who support people at home.
The programmes on this page cover the full career ladder. At Level 2 and 3 you learn to recognise the main types of dementia, communicate with people whose memory and language are changing, and support independence and wellbeing. At Level 4 and 5 the focus shifts to designing dementia-friendly services, leading staff and meeting the standards inspectors expect. Level 6 and 7 pathways pair strategic health and social care management with dementia leadership for heads of service.
Every qualification is delivered online by London School of International Business (LSIB), awarded by an Ofqual-regulated awarding body, and assessed through written assignments based on real practice. You can enrol any day of the year and study around shift patterns.

Where these courses lead
A Level 2 or 3 dementia award is a natural step towards the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and dementia leadership pathways at Level 5 lead on to the Level 6 and 7 management diplomas. Many learners combine a dementia certificate with the management diploma for their level in a single integrated programme.
Dementia care courses — questions answered
Which dementia course should a care assistant start with?
A Level 2 dementia award or the Level 2 Diploma in Care with a dementia pathway. Both are entry-level, need no previous qualifications and are assessed by assignment.
Are these dementia courses recognised by employers and CQC?
Yes. They are regulated qualifications on the Ofqual register, which is what employers and inspectors look for when they ask for evidence of dementia training.
Can I study dementia care while working full time?
Yes — all study is online, there are no timetables or exams, and most learners complete a certificate in three to six months around work.
Not sure which programme fits?
Tell admissions about your role and experience and we will recommend the level and pathway that matches — no obligation.
