Level 3 health and social care courses
Senior care worker qualifications: the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, foundation diplomas and specialist Level 3 certificates.
What Level 3 means in health and social care
Level 3 is the qualification for experienced care staff who want to take on more responsibility. The Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is the standard expectation for senior care workers, lead support workers and shift leaders, and it is the qualification that lets you supervise colleagues and contribute to care planning rather than only delivering care.
Because Level 3 sits at A-level standard, several of our Level 3 diplomas also carry UCAS tariff points, which makes them a recognised route into university nursing, social work and allied health degrees for learners who left school without A-levels.
Alongside the diploma we offer focused Level 3 certificates — dementia care, diabetes care and management, mental health — for staff who need recognised specialist knowledge without a full diploma. Every programme is assessed by assignment, supported by a personal tutor and delivered 100% online.

Level 3 questions answered
Is the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care equivalent to A-levels?
Yes — RQF Level 3 is the same level as A-levels. The diploma is vocational, so it is assessed by coursework rather than exams.
Can I get into university with a Level 3 health and social care diploma?
Many UK universities accept Level 3 diplomas with UCAS points for nursing, midwifery, social work and health studies degrees. Check the entry requirements of your chosen course; we can supply a UCAS tariff letter.
What is the difference between the Diploma and the Foundation Diploma at Level 3?
The Foundation Diploma is a smaller qualification that covers the core units and suits learners who want a shorter programme; the full Diploma has more credits and is the one most employers ask for.
