Level 4 health and social care courses
Step into management: the Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management and its integrated specialist pathways.
What Level 4 means in health and social care
Level 4 is the bridge between delivering care and managing it. The Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management introduces the leadership, quality and regulatory knowledge that team leaders, deputy managers and care coordinators need when they become responsible for other people's practice.
Academically it sits at the standard of the first year of a UK bachelor's degree, which is why it is also popular with learners who want a university-level qualification but need to keep working. Many progress to our Level 5 and Level 6 diplomas afterwards, building towards a degree-equivalent award over two or three years.
Each programme is 120 credits, delivered online by LSIB, awarded by an Ofqual-regulated body and assessed through written assignments that draw on your own workplace — there are no exams and no attendance requirements.

Where Level 4 leads
Level 4 feeds straight into the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management, the usual qualification for CQC registered managers. Our Level 4 + Level 5 bundle covers both; the Level 4 to Level 6 bundle takes you to bachelor's-degree standard.
Level 4 questions answered
Can I do the Level 4 Diploma without a Level 3?
Yes, if you have relevant work experience. Admissions look at your role and experience as well as prior qualifications.
Is Level 4 enough to become a registered manager?
Most providers and CQC expect registered managers to hold a Level 5 qualification. Level 4 is the right step for deputy manager and team leader roles and leads straight on to Level 5.
How is the Level 4 Diploma assessed?
By written assignments for each unit, marked by your tutor with feedback. You can submit when you are ready — there are no exam dates.
Not sure Level 4 is the right fit?
Tell admissions about your role and experience and we will recommend the level and pathway that matches — no obligation.
