Leadership and management in care
The management qualifications behind every care career move — team leader, deputy, registered manager, head of service — delivered online.
Why leadership and management in care matter
Promotion in health and social care almost always comes with a qualification requirement. CQC expects registered managers to hold or be working towards a Level 5 diploma in leadership or management; providers ask deputies for Level 4; heads of service and directors increasingly hold Level 6 or 7 awards. This page gathers every leadership and management programme we offer so you can see the whole ladder at once.
The Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management introduces supervision, quality and compliance for new team leaders. The Level 5 Diploma and Extended Diploma are the registered manager qualifications, covering governance, finance, workforce and inspection readiness. Level 6 moves to strategic leadership across multiple services, and the Level 7 Diploma and MSc routes prepare directors and executives to lead whole organisations and systems.
Most programmes are also available as integrated pathways that add a professional certificate in a specialism — dementia leadership, safeguarding, palliative care, healthcare finance, human resources or compliance — so you can evidence management competence and subject expertise in one award. Everything is delivered online by London School of International Business (LSIB), awarded by an Ofqual-regulated body and assessed by assignment.

Leadership and management in care — questions answered
Which management qualification does CQC want for a registered manager?
A Level 5 diploma in leadership or management for health and social care, or an equivalent. Our Level 5 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management are designed for exactly this.
Can I skip Level 4 and go straight to Level 5?
Yes if you already have supervisory experience; admissions assess your role and experience as well as prior qualifications.
Is a Level 7 management diploma the same as an MBA or MSc?
It is at the same RQF level and carries 120 credits. It is a regulated diploma rather than a degree; it can be topped up to a full MSc with a partner university dissertation.
